This is it... the final days before I leave. I've been waiting for this to arrive for a year and a half. In the beginning, it was just a "backpack Mexico to learn Spanish" idea that I got from my buddy Adam J. Then I got all gung-ho on the "Easyrider" dream and wanted to drive all the way to Cancun with my buddy, Danny. After visiting Rio in December 2001, I went nuts for South America, and figured why not just drive all the way to Rio on my motorcycle?? In fact, why not enrol in an exchange program with Concordia U. at the same time? Then I began making careful decisions. When should I quit my job? Do I terminate my lease or sublet? How much money do I need? What do I have to buy? Should I or should I not take the motorcycle? Is it too old? Is the trip dangerous enough without doing it on a bike? Am I experienced enough? I realized it would be more prudent to shelve the idea of doing the trip on a motorcycle. It's already dangerous enough! Consider:
