A TRIBUTE TO FRIENDS

KEEP FIGHTING, CHRISTINE!

Photo par/by Ladislas Kadyszewski

Christine Leibovict has been fighting breast cancer since September 2004 and I just want to say how much I admire her courage.  She's kept me (and others) updated on her treatments and progress.  She hasn't been afraid to tell us what it's like and how she feels ... I really admire her courage and the way she's kept up her positive attitude.  But I'm not surprised.

I've known Christine since the Spring of 2000 when we did a group project together at Concordia University.  Every six months or so, she and I and another member of that group project get together for beers.  Click here for photos! This has become a ritual, and it has evolved into a great little friendship.

She is a great person to be around.  She has a fantastic sense of humour and she's always got some crazy story to tell.  She's a feisty one; not at all shy to party with the boys and she can definitely handle her beer.  The cancer's definitely the underdog in this one!!  I just want to tell her that even though I've been crazy busy with the MBA and I haven't written as often as I should have ... she is on my mind and I am rooting for her.  Richard and I are waiting for you at Hurley's - you pick the date!

Christine is raising money for research, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer!
She is $950 short of her goal of $2000.  Can you help her reach that amount?

Hello all,

Since I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2004, you've offered me help, support, and encouragement. Today I call upon you to support me in a project that is close to my heart. I m registered to participate in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer, a new fundraising event in support of the Segal Cancer Centre of Montreal s Jewish General Hospital.

It is a 60km walk taking place August 26-28, 2005. Slowly, I've started training for this event and plan on being able to complete the full walk when the time comes. Aside from the fact that this cause is important to me, this is a personal challenge and a great motivation as I prepare my full return to health. It is the first of what I hope will be many initiatives in my battle against cancer. To participate, I must raise a minimum of $2,000. Each one of your contributions is significant and any small amount helps me.

Wherever you are in the world, you can find out more on this event by going to the www.endcancer.ca website. There, you can make an online contribution by following the steps that will lead you to my web page.

I know I can count on your support and I thank you.

Sincerely,

Christine Leibovict
