I didn't spend the weekend on a beach as I thought I might but I still had a great time in the small town of Tolú, Colombia, located on the Caribbean coast in the department of Sucre. I stayed with friends Nana Caballero and Ana Maria Gonzalez. They took great care of me from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Either all Colombians are this hospitable or I'm just very lucky to meet the ones that love having guests and meeting new people. I made it my plan for the weekend to sit back and not have any assumptions, plans, or objectives. I just wanted to have fun and try to soak up the experience. This seems to be working for me. I am enjoying Colombia much more on this sojourn than the last - and I thought the first trip couldn't be beat! Some memorable experiences that I'll mention in my first Colombia update (coming soon!) will be about the 4-year-old boy with the injured knee, the good times at Territorio, Colombia's soccer win against Peru, and the 15-hour bus ride back home today. I'll try to get photos up soon from my first two weeks here! The picture above is of a street scene in Tolú from my first trip there during Easter Week 2003. My next destination: Eje Cafetero, the coffee-growing region of Colombia in the department of Pereira. I'll keep you posted!
