HAVE YOU SEIZED A DAY LATELY?

FACE YOUR FEARS. LIVE YOUR DREAMS.
You only live once!

You'll see a series of dates below. Each one of them represents a day in my life where I "lived for the moment". For me, living for the moment is facing my fears, or capitalizing on a significant, spontaneous opportunity. I try to live by the philosophy of living each day as if it's your last. After all, eventually it'll be true!

Until you find something worth dying for...you're not really living.

Author unknown

We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware--beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

Suggested by Helen S, on November 6th, 2003:

Expose yourself to your deepest fear;
after that, fear has no power,
and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes.
You are free.

Editor's Note: These quotes came from a movie that tells the story of a small-town boy who became rich off of cocaine.  I'm a big advocate of forging ahead and taking chances, but you've also got to be smart about it.  Think two steps ahead, stay true to yourself, and be a person of integrity.  This is easier said than done ... the reason this is posted on my website is just part of a bigger plan to stimulate self-reflection, and to try and make myself a better person. I think seizing the day is a good way to accomplish that.  What do you think?

May the wind always be at your back,
and the sun always upon your face,
and the winds of destiny to carry you aloft to dance with the stars.

Life passes most people by while they're making grand plans for it.

Both quotes from Blow,
starring Johnny Depp.
Released 2001.

hey ryan!!!! guess what? i'm going back. I've decided March 15th.

there's more i want out there than here so i'm packing up all my stuff, i've had a garage sale and just need to do my tax return, then i'm off! i'm going to apply for a green card, but in the meantime, head out there and see what i can do for some cash. i've got a super fabulous friends thats letting me stay with her.(free) then we see.

thanks so much for being a supporting figure in this. i would like to source out all sorts of real jobs whilst there, but also take in as much more riding that i can afford. (eek, that's my incentive enough).

i'd love to come out to tremblant once before i go, but i dont know if i'll have time :-( Maybe march 9-10-11ish? cutting it close, but can you blame me?

i have checked out your pix yet, but i'm gonna be jealous i'm sure. i'll share some of mine too. lets stay in touch

cheers,
leee

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."
There would have been more "I love you's".. more "I'm sorry's"

... but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.
Stop sweating the small stuff.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what.
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who DO love us.
Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with.
And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally, as well as spiritually.
Life is too short to let it pass you by.
We only have one shot at this and then it's gone.

Note: Erma Bombeck needed an organ transplant, and even though she could have been moved to the head of the waiting list, due to her prominence and wealth (like Mickey Mantle), she refused to do such, and subsequently, died from organ failure.

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask How are you?
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
We'll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,"hi"
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away.
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.
